Human factors/ergonomic issues in tape storage interfaces

On Thursday evening, August 9, Sun StorageTek will host a tour and presentation by Don Sugar on the unique human factors challenges in managing tape storage libraries. Join us for an exciting opportunity to see an inside view of the Sun/StorageTek tape storage libraries. These machines are used by businesses and organizations worldwide for data storage, backup, and archiving. We will see small, mid-range, and enterprise level tape libraries in action, and look at some of the unique human factors and ergonomic challenges of designing software and user interfaces for the libraries.

We will also have the usual networking and chapter business discussion time, with dinner generously provided by Sun StorageTek.

Our schedule for the evening is as follows:

5:30 – 6:00 – Gather at Sun Louisville campus, Building 4 lobby, socializing
6:00 – 6:30 - Dinner in the cafeteria
6:30 – 7:30 – Tape Library and Lab Tour
7:30 – 8:00 – Human Factors and Ergonomic Issues in Tape Storage Interfaces
8:00 – 8:30 – RMHFES chapter business
