Joint Meeting between Rocky Mountain HFES Chapter and local CHI chapter

The Center for Lifelong Learning and Design (L3D) is in the Discovery Learning Center building on the CU campus, at the southwest corner of the intersection of Regent Drive and Colorado Avenue. Park on the east side of Regent (on the left shortly after you turn onto Regent from Colorado). Please use the south entrance to the DLC building. The social time starts at 5:30 pm, with dinner at 6:00 pm and the program starting at 7:00.

The program will explore these projects:

• Cognitive Levers: these are PDA-based cognitive aids for individuals with cognitive disabilities, coupled with caregiver tools for end-user programing. Remote notification, monitoring and support are also part of the project, using internet-based multimedia technologies such as Flash Communication Server and Google Earth.
• Beyond the Desktop with the Envisionment and Discovery Collaboratory and Google Earth: this project makes interactive visualizations possible for participative and collaborative urban planning and design.
• Craft Technology Group: A variety of projects integrating new technology, such as 3D printers, laser cutters and conductive thread, with hands-on educational crafts. Can these new technologies be used for rapid prototyping of physical devices?

We’ll focus on these prototypes’ ergonomics, user interface, and overall user experience. The demos are informal, so practitioners and researchers can swap ideas.
