April 2005 Chapter Meeting

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society will hold its April 2005 meeting at the IBM location at 6300 Diagonal Highway (between Boulder and Longmont) on Thursday, April 21, 2005 beginning with social time at 5:30 pm. Mr. Michael Rodriguez, a human factors engineer with IBM's Printing Systems Division, will present his research on the design of wordless instructions.

Ever wonder how you could explain a complex mechanical procedure without using any text at all? Is there actually an advantage for leaving out the text and just relying on diagrams? Are there any design rules you can follow for doing this? Are some guidelines more important than others? What can we learn from this about how people learn and understand instructions? Come to our April meeting and find out!

The meeting will include dinner of pizza, salad and driinks. For IBM security, please send RSVPs to president@rmhfes.org by no later than 04/18/2005 if you plan to attend.
